i m still not quite finished the last system and i m starting the new one , the base is cut from the crate of a new mill we got at work and the rest is aluminum that was going to be tossed out , took a while to start the idea for my slides but i think this is going to workout well, the cutting envelope will be about 3' x 5' ,good enough for what i need it for , chain is what will drive it till i get cog belts next challenge will be the y axiis , the x slides nicely with little if no play |

| got the y figured out , 3/4 of a year ago i did some dumpster diving when i saw an arm for a drafting easle in the bin , i thought it would be good for the mdf table i built but decided against it , the rollers inside are bearings and everything is snug but slides beautifully , and it fits perfectly inside the gantry channel , i will add another couple of bearings to steady it that much more , this is going to be good (i think ,hope) |

| ya i do hope to be able to route aluminum and some brass , more or less what ever i can cut , i had success at cutting aluminum on my mdf table so i m fairly optomistic, ive put a lot of thought to this and will do what it takes to make this thing sturdy , with no slop , it will be designed in a way that if i have to go back to leadscrews i can easily |

| Dertsap, Your Router project looks nice and very well though out. Personally I'd like to build a 5 axis mill, which may never happen. Nice to see someone else building what they want.

| I hate to be too critical, but there is no way you will keep that axis from rocking without at least 3 degree support. You would need to pile on sandbags to get it to cut balsa with any speed.
