Well..i've been a member here for a few months and have been soaking up all the amazing knowledge of this board and it's members. Planning my first cnc and I have a couple questions. For 60 bucks I can get the headstock/spindle combination that Taig uses on their mini mills. I think this is a better route for me to go since I plan on milling mostly aluminium. Any opinions on this? I am also looking at using the gecko drives, but am unsure about which type of motor to use. Most likely I will go with steppers since servo motors tend to be a bit cost prohibitive. My mill will be made mostly out of aluminum and steel since this is the area of fabrication that I am most familiar with. I plan on using the 5/8" ballscrews from mcmaster carr That's all I can think of at this hour. Am I doing good so far? |
