Cnc Router table Plans and ideas

Hi all.

I am now working on a set of plans for a homemade CnC router.
I want it to have a cutting area of 24" x 36". I am gonna use 175oz/in stepper motors.

I am planning on using rails down the sides of the table for the Gantry to ride on the x - axis. The Gantry will have v-groove bearings to ride on the rail 2 on top of the rail and one below the rail.

Anyone made a table this size?

I would appreciate any ideas anyone can give me.

I will post the plans as i can.

What material will you use? MDF?

Why is the table so tall?

Looks nice so far!

MATERIAL: Probably a combination of MDF and Plywood.

Table Height: Thats just the way it came out. Its gonna have the drive screw going underneath the table in the middle.

The gantry is gonna ride on rails on the outside of the table. With a V-groove bearing on top and bottom of the rail. That's why it came out so high.

Gantry Mounting

Hey Little Joe,

Just one comment..... if you put the linear rail on the upper side of your baseframe instead of the lower side it will reduce the sway in the gantry.

Also, have a look at ChuckKnight's thread on his wood/mdf router. It has some good pictures and stuff.

Eldon.
