Hi All Getting ready to start my own table to cut Wood, foam plastic and light metal. My question to the forum is what sliders work the best what are the advantages and disadvantages of the various types. if this is covered in a diffrent thread can someone point me there. I was for financinal reason concetering a pipe slider with a flat metal reinforce ment to pervent drooping. Thanks |

| there is an overload of info in the forums about using 'black pipe' and rollerbearings. search for 'black pipe'.. click the button up top that says 'DIY CNC Machines', find a few that are similar to what you have in mind, then search on the user names... allot of people make 'build diaries'.. these are usefull to you.

Awsome, Thanks I'll check it out right now! however the question was is there a better system that might not be out of my price range, which is nearly nothing, but I have access to a lot of scrap..... Thanks for the reply. |

| Black pipe is really the cream of the crop for scrap/hardware store designs, joes 2006 model is a great example. Theres also the double v-bearings on angle iron that might be affordable if you have the angle iron needed and can get some of the bearings cheap, check out Ynneb's design for those. Also 8020 bearings have been used by warrenw. All of them have threads with pictures of their machines for you to look at and decide what is best/most affordable for you. |
