I currently am driving my router with 3/8 - 16 all thread. I can cut very well at 35ipm and rapid at 40ipm. If I push it I can get 45ipm but I have had trouble at that number. I am using the HobbyCNC board with 200oz steppers and have a 24v power supply. My question is if I were to go to a 3/8" 2 start acme precision screw with say 5tpi would I be able to double my speed? What would you guys do? Upgrade power supply also? I know I could run my steppers slower but by going to less tpi on the screw also translates into more resistance on the stepper. Would I really gain much by doing this $100+ upgrade to my machine. |
