I posted this in the Xzero forum but I figured I would have a better shot at solving my problem here. I am having an issue with my Xzero supported rail machine. While jogging my x axis around I am noticing the left side of my gantry moves before the right side does. It doesnt matter if it is traveling positive or negative, the left side always moves first before the right side does. The only way I can get it to stop binding up is to take my acceleration down to 4ipm. Is there something I can adjust to take the slop out of the gantry so both sides move at the same time? I am pretty new to the DIY CNC stuff so I dont know a hole lot about the mechanics of it. Also what is everyones kernal speed in mach3? I have mine at 25000 and I can only get 147ish IPM. If I change the kernal do I have to recalibrate the entire thing? Thanks, Chris |

| If they're round supported rails with bearing blocks, they probably have one or two adjustment screws on each block to make the bearings more tight or loose. The side that stays behind is probably tighter than the other one. Try to find a sweet spot so they are not too loose nor too tight on both sides. Last edited by Walky; 10-24-2011 at 04:39 PM. |

If you change the kernel speed it allows you to configure higher speeds at Motor Tuning, other than that there's nothing you need to change in the software. Remember to close and restart Mach3 after changing the kernel speed, before changing the axis speeds. I usually use 45Khz or 60Khz depending on what the machine can do (microstepping level has a lot to do with the kernel speed you need, too). |
