I've just purchased Gerrys MACH 2010 Screenset.. so decided to setup a probe. This is how I've done it: See attatched image. Is there anyting wrong with usining a relay? I've tried it out it appears to work ok.. but my knowlage of this kind of thing is limited. help/comments much appreciated. oh and thanks to Gerry for such a great screenset!!! ![]() cheers mick |

| I haven't tried it, so this is just a guess... How fast is your spindle moving when you are checking the probe? How fast can your relay be actuated? If you have a fast-moving spindle height and a slow-actuating relay, then your probe height determination could be off, or your tool could try to plunge into your probe plate a bit before it stops. |

| That's exactly what I was thinking... I was hoping I was wrong. I'm sure any delay wont be huge but I sure don't want to risk damage to the tools.I'm not sure of the z feed-rate, I am just running the Mach 2010 Screen set with the preconfigured auto zero macros. How are others wiring this? Mike... |

| I just have the plate wired to an input pin with a pullup resistor to 5V, with the spindle to ground. If you're set up in metric, it probes at 250mm/min, then again at 25mm/min.
