How wire and connect this optical switch

Hello

I need wire and set an optical switch for use in a homemade computerized embroidery machine, I get one from an small automatic teller machine, similar that used in banks for quantify the money (I don’t know exactly what is its name in English).

This switch will take signals from motor wheel of embroidery machine , send a signal to input pins of controller card, and software order to move embroidery hoop to next stitch position. Its SW1 or SW2 in attached drawing.

Embroidery software is downloadable here
FABRICANDO BORDADORAS COMPUTARIZADAS "HUBORDIX"

Optical switch is ON1105, from Panasonic, and is very fast.
I am attaching a PDF File containing datasheet of optical switch.

I need know how wire the switch, and how connect.

Thanks in advance,

Rene

Buy me a Beer?

It is a slotted photo detector, The first thing you need to know is what voltage supply you have for both the Input photo diode side as the input cannot exceed 50ma, and the nature of the input in the control you are using?
IOW, more info is needed.

Al thanks for your answer.

I don' understand very well your question, I answer you about my understanding, sorry my bad english

My power source is about 24 VDC, also I have an ATX PC Power source, and can take 5 or 12 vdc. I read some posts about this theme, but electronics is not my strong.

If you can sugest me what kind of voltage and settings must I do I wil be gratefull. Also I think that should be some resistor in the way between slotted optical interruptor and Input pins in cnc controller

Nature of the input will be test each stitch in a sewing machine used for embroidery work, for run a new line in embroidery software.

Embroidery file only contains X and Y coordinates, and software when is starting activate a DC motor who runs continuosly at X SPEED, in each stitch the optical interruptor is activate for a slotted disk located in sewing machine shaft and send a signal for LTP pin 13, then software runs a new line and X,Y axis moves the embroidery hoop to new posotion.

I need to know how to wire optical switch, what voltage should I connect it,
what kind of resistors use, and some diagram of connection.

Thanks for your help

Rene

It appears you are inputting into a PP, if so connect pins 1 & 4 together to 5v common, wire a 200 ohm resistor from pin 2 to +5v and wire a 1kohm resistor from pin 3 to +5v and feed pin 3 to pin 13 of the PP.

The 1k goes from pin three to +5v, and also pin 3 goes to the PP 13 input.
Also the 5v supply has to come from the controller, otherwise you will need to connect the -5v common to the controller common.

Hi Al

Attached new drawing of connections.

New questions.

1-Where can I take 5VCD in my controller?

2-Should I have two power sources together? One for CNC controller and second for 5VDC?

3-Can I take 5VDC from some pins of PP?

Thanks in advance

Rene

If you have a desk or tower PC, then take the 5v from one of the 4 pin accessory/HD connectors, black to red is 0v & 5v.

It will be easier to find a 220 ohm resistor. That will still work OK.
