So, I've just upgraded to Ger21's mach3 2010 screen set with the tool length sensing feature. All was going well until I tried it in anger with the Vacuum pump turned on plunge......sense.... plunge plunge still plunging ![]() Now I've stuffed the ground circuit on the C23 breakout board, I can only put it down to a static discharge back to the tool sense pin on the BOB. Any thoughts out there on how to earth my Vac table piping now that it's all assembled? The pump itself is earthed via the usual 415v 3 phase connection as is the spindle and machine. Liam [IMG] |

| Liam, sorry I don't have much input on your BOB problems, but I seriously recommend you look at a height sensor that does not require electrical conduction between the spindle and a plate. I made a very simple height sensor here; http://www.cnczone.com/forums/cnc_wo...ll_router.html (about half way down page 1) that has it's own simple "break-contacts" and can be insulated from the spindle if needed although I just earthed the top plate, and the ohter small plate concact (that the spindle does NOT touch) goes to the control board. With your big setup you could machine a touch sensor like that in minutes. Although you might want to scale the size up. |

| Hi Romanlini, I was just updating my build thread, seeing as you've guilted me in to it! That's not a bad idea, I would have to make it out of something non conductive....I haven't checked the link yet, I'll go do that now. Thanks Liam
