Well, I think I've settled on a Fine Line Automation 4'x4' router. (I was looking at the 2'x4', but think the $400 for the extra capacity is worthwhile. It will let me slide 4x8 sheets of plywood in, and cut parts up to 4' with the grain.)
Now I need to select the electronics package, but am confused by the range of prices. I'm already pushing the budget, so don't want to spend more than I need to. FLA has a 4 axis package for $665, whereas Keling has what seems like a similar package for about $570. Both use the Gecko 540.
Keling has a package using separate drivers for about $470.
All these packages have Nema 23 steppers with 380-420 oz. in. of torque.
People seem to like the G540, but does it have other advantages besides simplified wiring? The wiring doesn't scare me, so that's not a big factor.
I also notice differences in the ratings of the power supplies, but don't know how big a supply I need.
Are there other factors I should be looking at in comparing these packages?
Thaks,
Tom
BTW, I'm basically ready to order onced I get answers to a couple questions, but Nate hasn't replied for over a week. Is he always this slow to respond? It makes me wonder what kind on response I'll get if I place the order. |
