I've been interested in building a CNC machine for a very long time and have lingered and browsed these forums for quite some time. I've finally bit the bullet, so to speak, and decided to build one. The design I liked the most was the blackToe on buildyourcnc.com. However, the price point on purchasing the kit was a bit out of the range I wanted to put into it right now. So....I decided to tackle this on my own (kind of). This machine is a "clone" of the 2x4 blackToe. I created all of the parts by watching the videos on the website. I made some modifications for my own purposes along the way, but I think I've come pretty close. I've spent many, many hours working on this (approx. 2 months in total), so I'm getting excited to get it fired up soon! Anyway, I thought I'd share my work in progress with you all since these forums have been a big inspiration to me from the beginning. If I get positive feedback, then I will post more pictures as the machine's build comes to completion. P.S. - Sorry for the bad quality photos. The sun was shining into my garage and I was taking them from my iPhone, so they are a bit dark. Last edited by mjones; 07-21-2011 at 08:29 PM. |

| Hey nice looking build and congrats on all the hard work! Please dont take this the wrong way but, most all know how hard it is to convey "emotion" in text especially on these forums, but your comments toward the end of your post reflect a need for a little more tact, I would say your new build will be met with more enthusiasm without comments like these. As the second reply stated most all these machines are kinda "spun-off" another. Anyway welcome to the forum hope to see more progress JTCUSTOMS

| Progress update: Today I ran the motor wire through the conduit, mounted a through-table attachment for the vacuum hose (so I can hook up the shop vac underneath), built some shelving to hold the PC (and whatever else I want to keep down there) and mounted electronics. Hopefully I'll have this thing running this weekend. |

| Update: Everything is built and ready to run. I have an issue I'm trying to work through though. I have been trying to get some movement on my motors with no luck. Started a thread in the Keling forum to try and get some help. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/keling...questions.html Waiting for some help to get this running.....hopefully soon. |

| I figured the motor problem out. I had to set active low instead of active high. All is good now and the machine is moving. ![]() Once I get all of the small details out of the way (calibration, etc), I'll take a video and post here. |
