What type of router would be best for me.

Hi, I am new to this forum, I am a custom woodworker and would like to build a cnc unit to cut down on multiple cuts, carving, etc. I have a backround in mechanical,electronic work, my question is what should I look for, plans,kit ? how many axis, etc.

Ed, you'll need to answer a few questions like what is the size of the jobs that you'd need your machine to do..what accuracies that are required for your kind of work..again, the # of axis depends on the kind of work you would generally need to do. check out these sites if you already haven't

You need to be a lot more specific regarding what you want to do with it, and how big the parts you'll be cutting are.

4'X4' would be the largest panel I would work with,right now. Should be accurate to 1/64" also need to be able to carve designs, signs,

I would point you to either Joe's Hybrid 4x4 or Fine Line Automation's FLA-300

I built a Joe's hybrid and loved the experience, it is a great machine. If anything just pay the $100 for the plans to get access to the forum probably the best set of guys out there with great experience.

I just purchased the FLA-300 kit for my second machine and just recieved the last of the parts. Nate is awesome to work with and the quality of his work is bar none the best for the price.
