I'm thinking about what my next machine might look like. I'd like to keep the amount of aluminum machining to a minimum, so I'll use 80/20 for the base. For the Y I'm thinking of finding some linear rails on ebay. For the X and Z I'd like to use drill rod and either an Oilite or Rulon bushing. The question I have is the X azis. The 1" rod is about 28 inches long. How much flex can I expect with the weight of a router motor attached? I'll be cutting mostly wood. Dave |
