Hello everyone! First I would like to thank you for helping me resolve my other issues. Here comes the next one: I purchased a Probotix SideStep Bi-Polar Chopper board for my A-Axis SideStep Stepper Motor Driver - Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver The user manual shows an enable pin, but when I look through the Mach3 setup information from Probotix, it says the SideStep does not use an enable pin. I'm confused and do not want to destroy anything. Has anyone used one of these boards and wired it to a BOB? If so, can you advise if you used the enable pin? Thanks in advance. My electrical is almost complete! Now on to finish the machine design. Pics coming soon! Jeremy |

| I have the Probosteps (Probotix's unipolar drivers) and they work without any need of configuring the enable outputs in Mach3. I got Sidesteps like yours for my smaller machine a coule of days ago but I haven't had any time to mess with them (moved to a new house yesterday); I'll keep you informed as soon as I try them, but I'm 99.9% that not using them will not damage your boards, and I think the drivers will probably let you move the motors without using the enable pins. If you want a first-hand answer, send an email to Probotix, they always answer my emails pretty soon (it seems they are moving to a new facility, so it might take a little longer right now). |
