Ok I have been hauling around a old PS Audio class AB amplifier with the intentions to rebuild it someday. Well its been over 10 years now and has not moved in the last 6 so time to toss in the towel. But what in interesting on the CNC front is the power supply. This thing is set up for Dual -75V - 0V - +75V rails (Open circuit). The main transformer is 7"x6"x5" standard E core magnetic followed by 4 bridge rectifiers and 4 15000uF caps (big screw terminal can type). 15A main fuse and a large open frame relay on the transformer primary that is controlled by the front panel power switch and a thermal sensor. The case is a 19" rack mounted deal (extra heavy duty also has standard feet on it for setting it on a shelf) ~ 6"x17"x17.5" internal dimensions. Rear 8" of the sides and bottom (Top was lost long ago but just a flat sheet) have venting slots. So my main question is if this thing would be worth selling and if so what would be a reasonable price? Would I be better off selling all together or selling just the power supply parts to cut down on the shipping weight? (this thing weighs a ton) Thanks for any input. |

| Personally if its worth advertising I'd sell it in the audio eqiupment on ebay. You will porbably get a good price for a good brand high power rack mount amp. Either to someone who wants to rebuild a classic amp or someone who wants it for spares for their amp. I don't think you'd get the same money for a generalised "power supply" sale. Either way that transformer and caps and rack case are probably well over $100 in parts if someone had to buy them new. |
