anyone tried jumping on a meter length of 45x90L profile,right in the middle with the ends held up off the ground?


i'm tempted but probably wont.

edit ..sorry im not really a vandal, and dont have any kind of desire to destroy a perfectly functional piece of metal, was just wandering if i needed to support my y beams in the middle.

I have those profiles (950mm long) and they seem to be pretty stiff. I will test them today evening when I am home.

ok, so i'm about 75kg, it flexes slightly with me 'jumping' on it. down by about 1mm in the centre without support,


rigid stuff, would be even stronger the other way.

nice one lurker, i wasnt far off then. i dont think my method for deflection calculation is quite as scientific as yours though.
