Help with bits for first machine | | Hello, everybody:
I am totally new to CNC, my first machine is still in the planning and I have no experience at all.
I will travel to the USA in wednesday and want to take the opportunity to buy the bits for the router. Although I have tried to investigate what bits to buy, I am still not sure. So, please, someone help me to choose the right bits.
I will use a generic (chinese) variable speed router and want to cut mainly aluminum sheets under 1mm, plywood up to 3/4" and eventually some hardwood. Relatively high feed rate is not really important, but desirable.
For aluminium, I believe that single flute is best for dry cuts. Onsrud series 64-000 (super "O") seem to be adecuate for this, also series 62-600, but I dont know what diameter is right for me. I believe 1/8" should be best for cutting detail. Onsrud also sells HSS bits, are these any good for my needs? I don't think I will put heavy use on this bits, but don't want to wear them too fast.
Are there good, but less expensive brands? My budget is a little tight.
I've seen some single spiral 1/16" bits in eBay, but don't know if they are ok. Also some Onsrud HSS bits that look like 1/4".
If the bits work also for plywood, great, but don't know if I should consider bits designed for this.
Can somebody guide me a little in this matter? I am willing to buy in stores if I can get a better price than in the web.
Thanks in advance!
