How to quiet down a Porter Cable Router?

Anybody have any tricks to quiet down a Porter Cable 890??

theres a red switch on the top that turns the noise on and off... other than that theres nothing you can do... lol

but seriously.. cutting noise is probably much louder than the router anyways..

If it's already variable speed, it won't get much quieter, even with a Super PID. I used an 892 on my router fr a year, and found it to be one of the quietest routers I've ever used. I did most of my cutting at 10,000 rpm.

I have the 890 (same as the 891,2,3,etc.) and I use the precise bits collet set. I didnt notice any difference in noise.

Like Ger said, Ive used a few routers and the 890 is one of the quietest ive used, if you can keep the RPM down to 10000 its super quiet for a router.

Isnt your cutting noise louder than the router anyways?

Agree, changing collets won't reduce the noise.
