Adequate settings of the DIP swiches os a driver?

In these days I have been wiring my first Kit and I have had some problems, first it didn't run the instructions now my motors work really slow, they run the instructions of the program but without an adequate speed, I think that the problem has to do with the DIP switches but I don't understand the function and use of these ones so it is only a suposition, I set the highest speed in Mach 3, however the movements doesn't have a significative increasing.
Drivers from Keling have eight DIP switches: My drivers are KL5056
Number 1, 2 and 3 are used to select current (amperes)
Number 4 is a mystery, even the brochures from Keling doesn't have enough information about this switch, the table says: "SW4: "1" = Half Current "0" = Full current, I dont understand these terms and how they can affect the performance of the system.
Number 5, 6, 7, 8 are used for Microstep, in the same way, it is not clear for me the use of these ones.
Until this moment I have used the motors in a series connection, maybe a parallel connection would work in a better way, wouldn't it? My motors are 640 oz/inch, kl34h280-45
I don't know how to attach photos, anyway I thank your help.

set 1,2,3 to match the max current rating of your motor.

Switch 4 I bet allows you to tell the controller to drop the output current to half it's rating when the motor is not moving. (decreases the breaking force but saves heat on the motors when not actively moving.)

5,6,7,8 are the ones i bet you have messed up. Assuming you have a standard 200 step per rev stepper (1.8 deg) if you set the micro step up for 10x it now takes 2000 steps to go one rev on the controller. This gains you more granularity (to a point) from a stepper motor. Although there is definitely diminishing returns. At some point even though the controller is microstepping the motor will not actually move that fine. I know my Zeta drives have the default set to 25000 microsteps per rev. with options of 200 (no microsteping) to 2000000 (10000x microsteping). I would read the manual and set the microsteping to off or as low as it goes and I bet you will see a big difference on your machine. Then check and see if one step of travel is small enough for your application if not increase the microsteping. Basiclly your going to trade off speed for min travel.
