Found cheap source for optical limit switches | | I had been running with no limit switches for far too long... after a few crashes and having to re-square my gantry, I finally decided it was time to install limit switches.
Was planning to just use mechanical switches, but I did a quick search and found these optical limit switches for about 8 bucks each! Turns out the guy is not far from me and is a fellow CNCZONE member too so I was able to just pick them up in person and ask for info on setting them up!
I finished wiring them all up saturday and they work great! I am using two per axis, wired in parallel for min/max limit and home (3 inputs total, one input per axis). Hardest part was figuring where to place them so that I could have a tab obstruct them. It's nice to be able to watch my machine home itself without bumping the axis's into the physical hard stops.
Here is where I found them: CNC or RepRap ready opto interrupter Limit/Home Switch - eBay (item 170566317876 end time Dec-14-10 11:50:09 PST) |
