Search for plans

Hi,

my name is Jörg I'm from Germany and 29 years old.
I am looking for plans or kit for the construction of a 30"-40" x 40"-80" cnc milling machine.

Are there any good plans or kits to build for myself?
I would like to spend U.S. $ 1900-2600 for the whole Porjekt.

What plan/kit you prefer?
Who is the best supplier?

Thanks for your time

Jörg

Thumbs up

Jörg,

Brian Oltrogge built a nice machine from wood:

Brian Oltrogge | Grünblau Design Studio | MDF3790

Please post your progress,

You want a Joes2006. Made from MDF, Gas pipe and roller skate bearings, it is sturdy, accurate, a good work envelope, and falls into your price range. Pre-cut wood kits are available, but shipping to Germany would be very expensive. If all you have are hand tools, you might build a JGRO first, then use it to cut the precise parts of the Joes2006 and reuse your electronics and motors.

oh yes a nice machine
I think I would go in that direction
A friend of mine has a Homag CNC and can milling parts.

You know even more plans?

@MrWild
The Joes2006 is not Bad. I will read more about it.

Joe's Hybrid 4X4 is better, but more expensive also because of the aluminum extrusions and Vee-bearings. Welcome to Joe'sCNC.com

Build Your Own CNC Router Machine

basic but easily built and works pretty well. If you go to the book page you can actually download the plans for free also.

Thank you all for the great tips.

I'm not sure if I should build in just MDF.
Do you think that I can mill aluminum on an MDF build machine?

Hi now i will bulid a small cnc

I've got a question
Someone already rebuilt a cross table like that?

Kreuztisch KT 205 Bernardo bei eBay.de: Maschinenwerkzeuge (endet 16.12.10 00:40:31 MEZ)

Is a conversion to an CNC machine possible?

I have seen many of these cnc conversions, here's one I had saved, I asked the builder rockcliff and he paid around $100 for the china unit, he said he used servo's with gecko drives, and it will cut steel and aluminum no problem,
Here's the picture

I was wondering about the details on the MechMate, specifically the rails X and Y. The Z axis also. Many of these sites only give a grainy small pic of their machine with no specifics. I will not be able to make a copy of Mechmate anyway, and am just curious as what they are using. Hate to drop $100 just for a look.

Looks like Wisecarver rails but I am not sure. The cold rolled rail is about all I can afford and now Ahren is making the carriages so reasonable.

Mine 1/4" x 3" CRS rail would mount to the top of 2 x 6 rectangular thin wall steel tube (10ga?). Haven't checked it for flatness yet, any ideas on shimming the flat iron rails level lengthwise and crosswise? It appears the shopbots are just screwed down and that's good nuff.

Thanks,

Alan
