Human controlled CNC

Sorry but I had to share this with you guys. We just rented these Segways for the afternoon in Washington DC. Truly an incredible machine!!!

Now if I could just figure out how to mount a router to the bottom and find a very large sheet of MDF. After all they go 10 mph which is roughly 38 million ipm.

Looks like they would be fun, I have been wanting to try them since they came out.

It was one of the coolest things that I have ever done.

It took about 5 min to figure it out, and about 20 min to feel at ease. We were in heavy tourist traffic which added to the challenge. You just lean forward to go forward, lean back to go backwards, and stand up straight to stop. Variable rate steering is done through a ring on the handle bars. You do not have to hold the handles to go straight. Going down hill felt weird.

( 5280 x 10 x 12 ) / 60 = 10560 ipm. My bad, I multiplied by 60. Thought that seemed awfully fast.

Anyway, Happy Fathers Day !

Steve
