Suppose you have a double drive on X (the A axis being the second drive). If you use Mach, the Ref All command will drive A and X independently. When they both come off of home, they are aligned to each other. This is a very nice feature, and I'd like to take advantage of it. However, it seems to me that means the home switches have to be aligned so that when they both activate, the gantry (or whatever) is square to the Y axis. How do folks install the switches to get that kind of accuracy? Seems like I need to rig some kind of threaded adjustment mechanism. Right at the moment, I'm using microswitches, but some day I will probably install some hall effect home switches and leave the microswitches for limits. |

| First you need to make sure you X and A axis are square to the Y, I like to use a pen to draw a right angle on the table and then check it with a square. Once you have it exactly aligned you can use a screw or some sort of adjustable switch/trigger on the X and A to set it exactly where it needs to be. If you use Micro switches you can bend the switch arm a bit, but a screw used to trigger the switch works best. If you are using hall effect you will want the magnet that triggers it to be adjustable. |
