Build Thread- Building my first CNC machine

Hi all

First off, i have no experience whit CNC machines, but i wanted one, and it is to expensive to buy, so i decided to make one... so if my design is poor, i apologise :P
For a living i work as an automation technician so i understand how the machine moves and how the steppers, and controlboard works, so a little burden of my shoulders.
The machine has some extra holes in it, cause i build it one way, and then changed the design after, so some unnecessary holes, there is

-Basically the whole machine is made out of the sealink antenna by marlink, so if you study this picture, you will find alot of similarity's

As i never tought on making a build thread, i havent taken many pictures while building, so the pictures i have now is of an almost complete cnc mill.

But still some work to do, will be better whit the pictures

This is what i have for now. I will come back whit more pictures as soon as i get them.
As said before, i have no experience, so this mabe a poor design, but i do the best whit what i got

Nice work but I was wondering when I saw that u are belt driving the rails.
Would it not have back lash problems. i have read abt it and that is why every one has the motor shaft direct coupled.

Like all machines I guess it will need a little tweaking but you have a pretty strong looking structure there and a basically sound machine. I like the plastic bed but how are you going to hold stuff in place while it's being cut?

No, i dont think the belts going to give me back lash, cause the I use ISO M8 bolt treads for moving the axes, so if i try to move any parts whitout the motors, it is impossible, the tread is to fine... It will take a long time to use the mill beacause of this, but it was what i had.

I havent decided yet :P But the plan is eighter to cut square holes in it, and just make some cind of lock mechanism... But that will only be used on ingraving, the nylon plate was way to expensive to mill in :P So i am going to make some wood plates that fits ontop of the nylon, and just skrew whatever im milling tight to the wood.

Nice setup for your first build. My first couple of tries didn't look so hot, lots of revisions.
