I am going to change out my old all thread on my mill for a better system What do yall think about the Hi-Lead by http://www.roton.com/hi-lead-screws-...x?line=Hi-Lead The size i was considering was 1/2 by .250 (4 tpi) or 1/2 by .200 (5 tpi) With brass nut and flangs Do you think they will work will on a 496oz stepper. I cut uhmw and delron mostly on this mill thanks bob Last edited by ardsranger; 08-09-2010 at 07:58 PM. Reason: adding tpi |

| Hi Bob, I used screws from Roton on my current router and they are quite nice. I think they are the 1/2" x .200 pitch and I am sure they are not Stainless... Very nice finish on the screws and never had a corrosion problem... I am using 290oz steppers for a 24x36 inch machine and can get 100 ipm reliably... HTH Jeff |

| i am getting about cut speed 38 ips rapid at 50, now but my screw is a joke 1/2 black all thread , with 2 inch threaded aluminum block as carrier ( threaded) and yes it is wearing very fast and getting very loose. so was looking for some upgrade to get speed up to about 120 to 130 for rapid and cutting plastic at about 80 ips Im using a industral Porter Cable for router. hope to order this in am so would love more input. on acme or Hi_lead. |

| Hey Ardsranger, I'm using the 1/2 .500, there 8 tpi 4 start with nylon nut,s I made my self.I'm getting 80 ipm from mine with 425 oz steppers, with the xylotex drivers. I'm not sure if you mean your getting 80 ips or ipm, if your getting 80 ips that's dam fast, something like 960 ipm. you wouldn't need to change a thing. I think the .500 would be the faster screw.
