Im trying to finish my gantry design and want to know if i should lengthen my gantry in the x direction. Right now im going for a 12 inch z height. my gantry is 24" tall 5' wide and 12" long. Its going to be on linear rail one truck at the front one at rear. Thanks! |

| The real questions would be what will the deflection of the tool under a given load be and is that acceptable and / or what will the life of your linear bearings be in your current design. Of course it's also impossible to calculate that with the information you've given, but if you give a bit more, we could probably give you a rough idea if it would work okay. What linear bearings are you using and what materials are you using for your machine? A picture or drawing would also help. |
