I am designing my own electronics for use with DC motors and encoders for a CNC router. I bought a tle 5205 (Infineon, Jameco 1627518) and hooked it up to a PSU, using a breadboard as the medium and a voltmeter between the two outputs. However, regardless of the input pin states, the voltmeter always read the same. In fact, when I hooked up the voltmeter to the inputs and compared them with ground, it read 3V. All the other parts in my electrical design work fine. Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem or offer a better chip that will drive a 12V motor using step and direction signals? Thanks, Nishant |

This time, I soldered all the wires directly to the chip and used a motor between the outputs. I had the input lines free floating before (not attached to the PSU 5V line nor ground. When I connected the inputs to ground, (the chip control is active low) the motor whirred about. Thanks so much. Nishant |
