| Well after building a mdf CNC router and being pretty disapointed in the accuracy I made the decision to build a 8020 based desktop machine. So far I'm very happy!! Working out a few details, limit switches, I still would like to upgrade the mdf table and z axis holder to aluminum and get a better spindle. But I thought it would handy to have the machine running to assist in making parts for itself . I also would love to uprade to a gecko g540. I also worry my cheap lightobject board may be on its last legs. Any way here it is......![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| I get about 10.5"x 10.5"y and about 5" on the z. Plenty for what im doing. I cut som pockets in aluminum with out any problems. Ive also done some drilling in brass and it works great! So much more rigid than my old build. Its funny I ran a mach 3 wizard to cut a key slot. I really didnt understand all of the defaults and ended up taking some pretty deep cuts inadvertantly and it had zero issues. Just kind of grunted throuh it. I was using a 3mm 2 flute end mill. I will post a video soon! THANKS!! |
