| Hi all; I am pondering the idea of building a cnc router table. What is the smallest bit size that I can use to cut 1/8" balsa and maybe 1/16". I am going to use this table to make dollhouse parts and model plane parts since a laser cutter is probably going to be more expensive than building my workshop. Me being a cheapskate would be my secondary answer. Thanks for any input. |

| For small detail, i use a .0313 fishtail cutter on 1/8th material. For regular work i use a .0625 router bit or a 1/8th 2 flute end mill. Cutter sizes are available from really small on up so what you choose to use would depend on the detail you want the cutout piece to have. 1/8th is a good common tool for me.

| grizzly tools and i think harbor frieght have sets of micro bits the price is fare and wanna talk about tiny cuts it blew my mind the first time i used em their so tiny you just have to make sure your not trying to cut to deep in one pass or snap...... i think the shaft on em were 1/8 so if you router has a collet for em no prob i use them for when i dont wanna waste alot of material or need real small cuts when i have to move alot of stuff i use up to 1/2 in and i also use carbide router bits |
