Buy me a Beer?
Arrow Grünblau MDF3790 Documentation finally finished!!!

I have finally finished the documentation of my machine and have assembled the document set that includes the bill of materials, drawings, renderings, wiring diagrams, patterns and instructions required to build my machine. I have thousands of hours in these plans to say nothing of the time required to produce the original design. I am very happy with the results and what I have been able to achieve with my machine. This set represents everything required to produce my machine exactly or as a very good jumping off point for those who would wish to incorporate their own design ideas. Cutting area is 37" X 90"

The image below shows most of the 24" X 36" pages included in the set.

SHEET NO. DESCRIPTION

A001 COVER SHEET
A002 OVERALL DIMENSIONS
A003 BILL OF MATERIALS
A004 BASIC TECHNIQUES
A005 LINEAR MOTION BEARINGS
T001 TABLE DRAWINGS
T002 TABLE EXPLODED VIEW
T003 TABLE TOP DETAIL
T004 TABLE SHELF AND OFFSET
T005 TABLE LEGS DETAIL
G001 GANTRY DRAWINGS
G002 GANTRY EXPLODED VIEW
G003 GANTRY CROSS MEMBERS
G004 GANTRY SIDE PATTERNS
G005 GANTRY SIDE PATTERNS
G006 GANTRY LINEAR MOTION
G007 X-Z AXIS TRANSMISSION
G008 Y AXIS TRANSMISSION
G009 Z-AXIS CARRIAGE
G010 CARRIAGE & Y-AXIS TRANS
G011 MANDIBLE PATTERNS
E001 WIRING DIAGRAMS
E002 SOFTWARE SETUP

DIY CNC PLANS

The image below shows the full scale pattern sheet that is included in the PDF or as an option with the paper set. All of the patterns for the machine are nested in one place ready to be mounted on a sheet and cut out. I had all of the pieces machined to double check the assembly. These pieces are included in the pages of the document set but this sheet allows for the set to remain intact. I will make the 3D side geometry available to those who would wish to go beyond the 2D uprights. May be the first thing you cut with the machine

Happy DIY CNCing!

My congratulations and thanks

Superb work Grunblau! Not many builders are prepared to go to this much effort to help other aspiring constructors.

I can hardly believe there's been no replies since you posted this

Well done and thanks for making these excellent drawings available.

Nice work on the documentation of your design. By the way, the work on your website is very interesting.

Thank you guys for the comments! I have been very excited to be able to work on some other projects this past week.

The plans are currently in imperial dimensions only. However, all of the patterns are actual size eliminating the need for unit conversion for those pieces.

Ok, but the problem is with all the hardware. I come from Italy, and is almost impossible to find hardware here with imperial units. Aluminum profile, screw, bearings etc are all in metric units...

It's great but I'm just a beginner.

As far as Metric vs Imperial probably 98% of the hardware listed in the BOM I sourced online (including aluminum angle)- 90% of that from McMaster. I currently have no idea about their shipping policies, but I understand the difficulties/shipping costs..

You are definitely at the right place, welcome to CNCzone! I have attached the basic techniques page of the document set for your review.

I like the look of the machine, I remember watching your build some time ago.

Do your plans come with DXF's if someone wanted to cut out your parts?

I would supply DXF's for the patterns as well as the 3D surface geometry for the uprights for those who would want to CNC those parts. At Maker Fair a guy wanted to cut a version of the table from solid Cherry wood!
