GETTING CLOSE!!! and pics too.... | | Well I finally decided to post some pics of my project so far. I am close to the finish line as far as construction goes and I have bought everything I need to finish it including electronics software etc.... This is my second go at a cnc router. The first time I collected a little over 1k in parts and abandoned the project and didn't think I would ever try it again. Well now its a few yeas later and I wanted to do it for sure this time and do it better than I had planned the first time. I saw this nice Z axis on ebay almost a year to the day ago and it sparked my interest to buy it and start again. So for the last year I have been slowly buying, researching, and designing this machine based on whatever I saw that I liked. This is a hybrid of several designs. I never had anyone's physical designs but I just took a look at what I wanted to duplicate and designed the parts myself to fit what I wanted to do. The frame of the x and y axis I designed in autocad. I took the drawings to work and they cut them out of 1/2" T6 aluminum on their cnc router that is in one of the shops. I had to take 2 guys to lunch twice for those 4 pieces (a total deal). Otherwise I painted them and did or bought everything else.
specs are....
1) G540 with appropriate NEMA 23 steppers
2) 1/2-10, 5 start acme with anti backlash nuts from dumpster
3) X axis rails are 51" Y axis rails are 32" and Z is 6"
4) frame is 1/2" T6 aluminum with 20-20 extrusions holding both sides together.
5) rails are HIWIN LG series 20mm
6) Z axis, router mount, and stepper mounts are K2 pieces
7) Router is a bosch EVS1617
8) all 316 stainless hardware
I still have to finish wiring and a few little things, I also have some IGUS cable carrier I need to put on to manage the wires. |
