Need your help. Please

Good day everybody.

I am looking for somebody to help me out with this little problem.

I have put together a CNC machine with step motors from Hobby CNC #23-305-DS8A and driver board 3 Axis TB 6560. After hooking up to computer I started testing. I set a command in Mach3 G00 ‘X2 to check motion. Motors on X axis are working just fine and are moving along. But on other axis, step motors just make a bussing sound and do not rotate. If I hook up the Z or Y axis wires to X axis on driver board, then the motors rotate and move along the axis just fine.

Could you please let me know what could be the problem here and what’s the way to solve it.

Buy me a Beer?

Sounds like a problem with the driver board.

What do you think. Maybe something wrong in the configuration of Mach3?

Take a look at the Mach3 Ports and Pins menus and see if Y and Z are set to inactive. They should match what X is set for. You could have a bad driver board, incorrectly configured pins in Mach3, maybe a bad parallel port cable. The parallel port cable must be wired pin 1 to pin 1 ........ 25 to 25.

In config-motor tuning I changed steps per to settings 5400 and Velocity to 10 and acceleration to 7. My motors start to spin , but when they stop there is still a small noise inside. Is this normal or not?
And if I increase Velocity and Acceleration, the motors start spinning at first and then they just stop, but keep on buzzing. Is it the problem with driver board or with settings? And how can i change velocity and acceleration. What better settings for them? Thank you so much for your help.

The Steps Per number has to be correct or you will get odd results. Go to the Alt-6 menu tab and look just above the reset button for a calibration utility. Click on it and follow the instructions. Do it for each axis. It will ask how far you want to move the axis you selected. Then it will ask you how far it actually moved. Measure it as carefully as you can. Based on that result, it will automatically change the Steps Per number in the Motor Tuning menu for you.

The alternative is to manually calculate the correct Steps Per number using the standard formula (that I don't remember right off the top of my head).

I have already done this formula is 200*TPI(1/microstep). And how about noise after stop and why if I change velocity and acceleration my motor stuck and start make big noise?

I believe if you start at a low setting for velocity and acceleration you can test and increase the settings in small increments until the motor begins to stall. Then back off on the settings say 10% and try using them like this. I had a problem with my X axis not responding well(and making noise as if it was trying to move in both directions) and I believe it was something to do with the active low setting for that motor. Works good since changing.

Also, double check that you have no binding anywhere on your axes that may cause stalling... It may not be easy to check this with the motors attached, but make sure everithing's aligned straight,

The sudden stopping could be because your acceleration is set to high and/or your velocity all so could be resonance? does it make a weird sound just before it stops?.

As for the other motors not working have you configured th correct ports and pins? in mach3 from your break out board?.

the hissing noise well I think that's normal when mine are still I hear hissing from the motors and my machine works fine so I can only say its the nature of steppers?.

Thank you for your replay.I thought so too and so disconnects motors for testing.

Yes it start making noise befor stop. Is it any formula for calculate velocity and acceleration?

Yes. Like show in manual came with driver board.

Thank you for your help
