Z-axis losing steps or not getting enough power? | | Good day,
I have been testing out all my gear and about to get ready to make my first cuts. I am running a Gecko G540 on a meanwell 48V PSU. I am using Mach3.
I was trying to use the wizard in Mach 3 that does the rectangle bolt pattern and drill a grid. I had the spindle(a laminate trimmer) turned off and was just running the program to see if it would work.
I was doing a 5x5 grid with a hole every inch. .5" deep hole with a peck of .3.
As I ran the program by the 4th or 5th hole I would see the DRO for the Z-axis moving but it would be party way along till the axis actually moved. It was like a long pause or something. Also the motor sounded like it was sort of losing power or not getting enough by the 4th hole.
Am I just over working them too much? Would a slower feed rate be better? I have the motors tuned down fairly low. Other times I try to Zero the machine, and Mach shows the z-axis DRO moving but the axis isn't. But if I jog the axis it works, just not when I use the ref all home button. I turn off the power and reboot Mach and all tends to be fine.
I am also not using shielded cables, is this a problem with interference?
Thanks as always.
