How much are you looking to spend? Do you want retail or surplus motors? Do you want DIY drives or something that's ready-to-run off the shelf?

For drivers, Gecko Drives are recommended, generally the G540. http://www.geckodrive.com/
There are dozens of DIY driver options as well, such as the PicStep, Linistepper, SLAm, etc.

Motors can be found in surplus at places like www.alltronics.com, and can be bought retail at dozens of places such as www.kelinginc.net.

Power Supplies can be purchased from CNC Retailers, eBay, or surplus stores such as www.mpja.com.

Could we get some specs for your machine? How big is it? What are you planning on cutting?

not very big really
30 by 32 inch
I will post a few pics in a few min.

kinda a veiw of the bearings . this was a sit it together / nothing like the finished mill will be. just double checking my concepts

work in progress

work in progress looking at location for x axis nc switch

work in progress side view of the y sliders.. dust covers not installed yet

work in progress hydraulic lifters

basic construction is
steel table
1 inch mdf on it
1/4 inch plate aluminum
2.5 inch mdf
top surface is 1/3 plate aluminum

x and z travel. y is bolted as on heavy laminate.

doing basic build now.
I have x and y finished. I have not cut my track for Z until i get my router installed. I still like machining the mount for it. I will most likely draw it tonight in solid works and cut it in the am.

Im just purchased my NC switches for x y and z +. Hope to install them in the next day or so.

Funny most of the stuff came from a local scrap yard.
they had 40 to 50 Linear bearing on tracks. I got them for 5.00 each. With a few hours of TLC they work very well.
