I got one in the mail today and it was about the size of a quarter, I was under the impression that the were a lot bigger, After lookinh around the boards, I have seen big ones and little ones. Which way should I go? big? Little? |

| If you ask a women, the answer is YES, YES, YES, oh god YES! lol. That being said, as long as the spec's of the switch match your setup and needs, then size does not matter (although, available space & mounting are key factors). The other key issue is to locate the "Big Red Oh $hit" button were it is easily accessible. Just my $0.02. Randy,

I have a little one, and I NEVER have to use it anymore. Only once when I pranged a cutter, and there was no danger once the cutter was gone (everywhere) It never did any damage to the air that was being cut. I have never used an emergency stop in anger, but it does work. It should release a safety relay to make the whole machine safe, whatever that is.

| In N.A. one of the official stipulations for the E-Stop buttons is: "Emergency actuator buttons or stop devices shall be coloured RED, The background immediately around the device actuator shall be coloured YELLOW, The actuator of a Push-Button shall be of the palm or mushroom-head type, The E-Stop actuator shall be either a momentary or self-latching type" In any case, it is usually the hardest to find button on the panel. ![]() Al.

Ye i have the same problem but i'm not talking about my Estop. . Lol You want one about the size of pumpkin and even then you'll miss it before the damage done.!! Seriously thou like the lady's say size matters and if it's tiny it will be that much harder to scramble to hit, mine is about 2" dia and wired throu relays so to trigger a hardware Estop so when Big red button is released it doesn't start up again straight away and requires a reset button, relieing on software alone for an Estop is not safe. IMO.!! |

| Small up top and big down below. I use the e-stop every single day, I have one at shoulder height, one at knee height and one near the floor so that when my brain screams "incomming!" I can still kill the bugger as I'm cowering amongst the chips.

| I have a big one - attached is a picture - its a bit over 3 inches wide, and is lit up when the machine is running. (Also reminds me that I left the machine on.) It is just a momentary push button, which is ok because it goes into the G540 which provides a positive latching function - you can't get the machine back on without doing a reset. It was $4 and was designed to be pounded (made for arcade video games.) Note added later: I tried to attach the pic as usual, but CNCZone won't do it. It can be seen at www.liming.org/cnc/page3.html about 2/3 down the page. |
