    Default Newbie checking in

Hello all. I have been reading lots of the posts and learning a lots and realizing I need to learn a lot more! Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experience.

I have been purchasing parts and pieces over the last few weeks and will be starting construction soon of my very own first CNC. I am in Central New York just east of Syracuse and looking for people in the area to talk with and also looking to hire someone with a functional CNC to cut some 1/2" MDF for my machine. If you are interested or know someone who might be... please let me know.

    Cheers, Jim

Hi Jim. Welcome to the Zone!

If you haven't already read it, this Basic guide may be of help:

And for router electronics, these are excellent:

What machine are you building? What size? What type of axis drive? Can you tell us some more details?

    CR.

    CR,

The second link for page 31 doesn't work unless it is like this:

    http://crevicereamer.com/Page_31.html

    It requires a capital "P" .

Not a problem CR, I can't type either, and just now fixed my own spelling error.

    Default Ready to GO!

Ok, I've made progress. I have been ordering parts and pieces and they have been arriving over the last few day (nuts, bolts, threaded rod, anti-backlash nuts, etc)
I've decided to go with the Joe 2006. I downloaded what I believe to be the latest version off RapidShare. I have been working with eDrawings to get all the measurements. I hope to start cutting some mdf templates later this week.
I have been talking with Oswald about lessons learned hand cutting this model.
    Wish me luck!
    Jim
