The Solar.Jean VFD is a real Huanyang, but does not have a knob (pot).
If you have your software control the speed, you don't need the knob.
So I was initially between Solar.jean & Powace08, I sent some final questions to Solar.Jean (because their auction is about $50 cheaper) while I'm waiting to have my questions answered by Solar.Jean I was looking at the photos of the VFD and while both auctions state their VFD are Genuine Huan Yang, it seems as though the VFD from Solar.Jean does not have a variable speed knob but the one from Powace08 does have the variable speed knob. I may be back to ordering from Powace08, unless someone is sure the one from Solar.Jean is original and it will have the variable speed knob when it shows up.

Arevyou talking about setting the bit speed in V-carve Pro? I known I can do that but I'm not sure how to adjust the speed through desk CNC.
Is the model with the variable knob the newer or older model?
Thanks
Gerry

Ok thank you
What would I be gaining buy getting the square spindle like lambodesign's purchased over the round spindle? It's about $100 more for the square one but id need about $30 for a clamp so a difference of $70 and if there is a big advantage I'll spend the extra cash instead of wishing I would have after the fact.
Thanks
My advantage is ease of mounting.... I hope. I also see it as stiffening the drop plate. Not really a factor on this cnc since I have a lot of other places that are even less rigid but my next cnc I'm hoping to be my last so I want it solid everywhere. I was on the fence as to which one to get and normally I'll do 10 hours of work to save a buck but this was a weak moment and I spent the extra $70.
My plan is to attach with a few bolts and get it trammed as close as I can then do the rest of the bolts with it in place. Doing it all from the front should be a lot faster/easier for me.
Sounds great lambodesigns stiffer would definitely help me out. No I just need to find out if they can ship from within the USA or from China, I don't want to pay the extra taxes & customs fees.
Thanks
If you are in the US, there are no taxes or custom charges n a spindle from China. Mine came from China, and I've purchased other items from China, and they were delivered by DHL, with no additional fees.

Ger - what about taxes or customs on VFD's?
Thanks
Gary
There shouldn't be any, but mine shipped from the US.

Ger who have you or anyone else had good luck purchasing from?
Powace08, Solar.Jean or someone else
Thank You
My VFD came from Solar Jean. My spindles came from Ratt Motor.
Solar Jean is one of the longest running sellers of these spindles, which is why I went with them. They've been selling them since they first appeared.

I just placed my order for the VFD & square spindle both through RATTM MOTOR. Now I'm going to order the 0-10 card & try to wait patiently.
Thanks all I'll let you know how it all works out

... which spindle VFD did you go with?
G540, Rack and Pinion Drives-X/Y axis, 1/2-Ball Screw-Z Axis w/THK HSR 25 Linear Slides, Steppers KL23H2100-35-4B, Power Supply-KL-600-48
This is the VFD I purchased

Ok so I'm getting the materials together for when the VFD arrived. Can anyone tell me the proper gauge of wire to use to run from the VFD to the spindle, from what I'm finding it needs to be for 10 amp and from what I can find I need 16 gauge x 4 wires, but I'm not positive and I figured you all would know better.
and did you buy the square spindle?

Yes this is the spindle that I purchased.

Just curious if ceramic bearing are the standards on these and what the benefits are to a traditional steel bearing?
I thought ceramic was for use in a wet area, maybe I'm wrong...
