Get- so do you think that's a good kit or look for something else?
I think that's what mine are. They have this same logo on them.

I'd buy this, and the clamp separate, and you'll save $50. Offer them $300 and they'll knock $5 or so off the price.

Ger, I messaged Solar.Jean (the link from above) they only offer 1 year warranty but said they will up it to 2 years for each the VFD & Spindle. I asked a few more questions and as long as the answers come back as expected I'll be ordering it today (Feb 1st)
I want to thank everyone for all the help so far. I'm sure I'll have more questions as this goes on
Gary
Gary, I ordered the vfd from them yesterday so I guess we will going down this path together. I ended up ordering a square spindle with a rattm motor just because of the mounting but I'm sure any questions you have will help me just like this thread has so far. I took the mid-way approach and just went with the er20 for $300 total with shipping. I also ordered a cheap set of "super precision" collets to have all the different sizes and then if they don't work well I'll order the technics ones in the sizes I use the most.
Everyone, thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
I wouldn't count on any warranty from an Ebay seller. If the spindle bearings fail in 6 months, I don't see them sending you a new one. Or be prepared to ship the stuff to China for them to honor it.they only offer 1 year warranty but said they will up it to 2 years for each the VFD & Spindle
If you want a "real" warranty, buy from Automation Technologies, or UGRA CNC. But be prepared to pay 2-3 times more.

Buying from eBay, unless it is a real shop selling through eBay, means no warranty. At best, if within 30 days and you detect some serious issues, they might send you parts which you can replace, or send you some other items as compensation, alternatively some small refund. After the Paypal complaint period is over... there is no more warranty and you can be happy if you can contact them at all AND get some answers. That's the price of the cheap price. If you want support and warranty you have to buy locally or from a serious, real shop but then you have to pay a higher price, local taxes and so on. It is naive to believe that just because an eBay seller say they'll make an exception for you they will hold that promise a year later. Also, the shipping costs back to China may be several times the costs of buying new items. That is at least the case to and from Sweden, and I know I would not even bother trying to claim warranty on eBay items.

Ger & A Camera - I totally understand what you are saying about the warranty I guess I was just thinking the way we would handle the situation if it was our customer with the issue.
Lambodesign - can you send me the link to the spindle you ordered?
Thanks Gary

I got a message from them saying that exact one was no longer available but they have a "new and improved one" that they are shipping instead. The picture of the new one looked the same so I wouldn't have known the difference if they hadn't said anything.... well... provided what I get is what they say it is.
It has the flanges on the outside so I can mount it without removing the drop plate which is a pain on my cnc and I've done it too many times already.
Actually.... looking at it there are two different ones shown on the listing anyway. At least the name plates are different.
Lambodesign, I saw the mounting flange but I was concerned about having the spindle mounted solid to the Z Plate, how would you adjust the height for different length bits? I guess maybe I'm just not used to it being mounted rigid because my manual router had about 3 or 4" of adjustment.
Did you buy a Huan Yang VFD or did you already have one?
Thanks
Gary
Is your Z travel that limited? I don't know of anyone that raises or lowers their spindle in the clamp.how would you adjust the height for different length bits?

The Z is 6" I always adjusted the bottom of the bit to just about the bottom of the dust shoe. How do you keep the dust shoe from getting all chewed up when your routing deeper jobs?
Now about the dust shoe, I have found a dust shoe for 80mm spindles but not for any of the square spindles. What does anyone use for a dust shoe / dust boot?
Thanks
I have enough travel that I've never had to move the router up even though I left room for it to adjust. Since I've never moved the router I didn't worry about it. I've learned a lot since building this first cnc so hopefully my next one will be much better and sometime this year I can get started on it.
I bought the Haun Yang vfd from Solar Jean. Should be here next week.
My dust shoe attaches to the drop plate. It works great but is a bit crude so first up will be designing a new one. I would like for it to attach with magnets this time with different brush lengths.
Can you post photos of how yours mounts to the drop plate?

Not sure if this will work with the new photobucket rules.
There are just two bolts that fit into holes in the drop plate and then the bracket to the router mount. One screw and it drops off.
Nice after looking at that & watching some you tube videos I'm rethinking buying a commercially made dust shoe & building one of my own, but they probably look easier than they are to make up.
Thanks
Pretty easy to build. This particular one fits my PC 7518, but the design can be easily modified to fit anything.
The top and clamp ring, 3/4 inch UHMW
Internal spacer, two pieces of 3/4 inch MDF glued together
The bottom plate, 1/4 inch UHMW
And assembled. A brush would have been better, but I didn't have any. So I used some thin conveyor belting
The bottom view
And installed
The view from the working end, The collet is even with the bottom shoe

I adjust the dust shoe height, not the spindle. My dust shoe is pretty primitive, but works well. Here is a short video showing how it looks like.
Not very nice, and it is on my todo list to make a new one but the next will be fixed to the X and will not be raised and lowered with the Z. That will be more efficient than the more common type I made, with the dust shoe fixed to the spindle holder.
