Is this the better get? Or is there a different one?

I was set on Huan Yang then reading on here made me unsure. So then I found this one water cooled spindle that has 4 bearings but I'm not sure about 5he VDF on this one as well. If anyone has any recommendations on an easy to use reasonable VDF please let me know.

This is the link to the "leader of the pack" so far. Please give any advice you have.

I'm interested in American made VDF as well but I'm not sure I can afford them.
It doesn't have to be made in USA to be good, in fact, it can be just as crap as the crappies one you find made elsewhere... Mine is Made in China but what makes it good is the quality control. Bosch does not give out his name just to get it dirtied by crappy quality, it is made in China by Bosch in their own factory and under their own quality control. Basically everything is made in China, which does not automatically mean crappy quality.

I don't know the Nowforever "brand". I helped out once a Swedish forum member with his Nowforever VFD but that was regarding the use of Modbus to control the the VFD. The manual was good enough to make it running and as far as I know, he is (or was after that) happy with it. I think it is wrong to buy everything in a kit believing you can get excellent parts for nothing. I think buying parts separately gives the best results with the most optimal quality. If I'd buy a water cooled I'd look at the quality of the pump as well and would not buy a simple and cheap fish tank pump which may fail a few days after you start using it, or would be annoyingly noisy or pump with rigid jerks or some other things which may go wrong with those. But again, that's just me.

I'm about 90-95% sure I'm going the air cooled route, now just to decide on which brand(s) I was looking at kits because
1.) I'm new & not sure what I need to set it all up.
2.) I was assuming if the components were bundled together they would be compatible & the best fit.

Where can the Bosch VDF's be purchased?

    Thanks

    Depending on where you live...

I bought mine from Inverter Drive Supermarket they shipped fast, but I don't know if they ship to USA or anywhere outside EU, you have to ask them. One issue is that unless you live in Europe or in a country with the same electrical system the VFD must be compatible with your mains.

If you live in USA you can contact Bosh directly also, they will most probably be able to help you out with an agent, or sell it directly. In that case you don't have to be worried, the VFD will be delivered suitable for your mains.

The VFD comes very well documented, I had zero experience with VFDs before but had no problems setting it up with the delivered quick guide. For the more advanced user there is a technical manual which can be downloaded. I even made a video about it:

What is the difference between the Bosch 3600 & 5610?

I emailed Bosch so once I hear back I'll let you all know what I find out.

I am not sure. I don't remember now why I did not want the 3610 (I think there is no 3600, or been replaced) but perhaps the only difference is that the 3610 is not SVC type. Anyway, you can download the manual or get all the information from their site.

I picked the following from here:

    Notable Features:

    • V/F control with power range up to 22 kW/30 hp (EFC 3610)
    • SVC control with power range up 90 kW/125 hp (EFC 5610)
    • Software Development Kit support from Open Core Interface in high-level programming languages
    • Sercos III communication protocol support for simple integration with IndraDrive & IndraControl components
    • Multi-Ethernet interface option includes the following communication protocols: Sercos, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT and Modbus/TCP
    • Fieldbus support for PROFIBUS DP and CANopen
    • Application specific firmware for different target applications
    • Built-in brake chopper (up to 22 kW or 30 hp)
    • Built-in line filter (all ratings)
    • Detachable operating panel for easy commissioning and parameter transfer across multiple units
    • Safe Torque Off safety function available

Ger, do you know whether the air path goes up or downward on that unit you linked ?

I finally got to talk to Steve at Bosch/Rexroth he asked me a few questions I didn't know the answer. One of the questiobs was what is "Connection Protocol" I use Desk CNC and from the research I see where it says PWM Output for spindle speed control.

My question is will any VFD work my Desk CNC controller or do I need to buy a new controller?

    Thank you
    Gary

If the DeskCNC board outputs PWM, then you'd typically use a speed control board that converts PWM to a 0-10V analog signal, and use the analog signal to control the VFD speed.

So does the speed control board get installed inside my control panel or is it a stand alone unit that sets beside the VFD?

Do you have any recommendations on a speed control board that would work?

It should be with your DeskCNC board.

I can't say for sure that this will work with your DeskCNC board, but something like this:

I have 2 photos of desk CNC information sheets that I can seem to get uploaded, but from the link you sent it appears I need to use a parallel port, but my Desk CNC doesn't have parallel port on it.

Ok thanks so I read that I need to use an RJ45 connection to attach to speed control board to the Desk CNC. Where do I find the cables or do I have to get one made? I see where the RJ45 connects to the speed control card but I can't see where the other end of the RJ45 connects to the Desk CNC controller card.

I'll have to talk to Bosch Rexroth again. Steve told me the Bosch won't work with PWM.

    Thank you

Cut the end off a network cable, to connect to your DeskCNC board. I think you only need 1 or 2 of the wires. (PWM and ground maybe?)
