Default RM2005 instead of 1605 ?? DFU or SFU ??

Just trying for the 3rd time to post

Okay third times a charm, third times a charm............

Just acquired some decent 8020 and have enough to expand the 1212 build to 1215 and run a rotary tool across the front of the machine.

I have been offered 1605 ballscrew and figure that it is fine for 1200 mm but is 1500mm pushing it a little.

As for SFU and DFU , this matter has not been decided on either. Would some kind soul chime in here on the benefits or otherwise of using the double ballnut.

    Happy Holidays

10mm pitch is a far better choice than 5mm for a router.

The double nut is the better choice.

Okay fine, but isn't it tight in the Z assembly for the dimensions of the DFU
And will 16 be prone to whip in 1500mm axis.
Better to spend the extra on RM2010 (as you have stated a 10pitch being better)

Yeah, you probably don't need the double nut for the Z axis.

I have no idea what your building, so it's a little hard to guess here.

While double nuts are better, Almost everyone uses the single nuts. Probably because they are cheaper, and more readily available.

Whether 16mm screws will whip, depends on how fast you spin them, and how much weight you are moving. I would use 2010's.

    A happy new 2018 to you Ger21
Thanks for your reply and forgive my late response,
I am overwhelmed with acquiring the BOM for this build. (I have included a representation of the table for your perusal, mine will be stretched to allow for full 48" wide material in the Y axis and I am trying at present to design the stand in 2x2 2x3 and 3x3 steel tube. I am not an experienced welder, but can call in some favours.. The profiles he is using are bloody expensive here (30% more). Origins overseas: a company called Item24.com actually has several outlets in Canada I was shocked to find out.

I figured it would be fairly easy to change the design enough to allow for ballscrew drive for X axis :-) as I found package deals on Ebay but that is not a set and forget deal there. Some crappy merchandise being shipped and all.......( read all about it right here at CNCZone)
One of the vendors from Ebay, a chap named Chai at "linearmotionbearings2008" had put together a decent package and when we last took a quote from the guy, we had stopped at the RM2010 with large size nut rather than the DFU (double)
So after looking up Chai's spotty record here at CNCZone and YouTube footage of several bent 16 or 20mm ball screws I went looking for other vendors but I am not enthusiastic
I mean for gosh sake, would you be interested in purchasing a full kit of so called Hiwin and Ballscrew from a company called VIPwindows??

I am trying to source all parts at Automation Overstock in the USA but he is short the HGH 20 CA bearings I need for the X and Y axis

Perhaps you have some experience that will help me make a sound decision.
The CNC Router for mainly wood 3D and wil try fourth axis work with a 200mm rotary tool.

1400mm for the Y and 1500mm for the X axis to allow an over hang to accommodate the spindle cutting positioned across the front of the machine. (yes, I am re-thinking this, it will always be in the way )

    My questions:
Have you any experience with the Ebay vendor or have any suggestions for good DIY supplier?

The difference between using single nut, large nut and double nut, what can it mean for resolution ? Is it like pre-load in a Hiwin bearing, or is it backlash prevention
    .
Can I go with 20mm ball screw for 1500mm X axis or go with 25mm. OR, shelve the ballscrew altogether in favor of R&P.

Forgive me if this needs editing, it will be the fifth time I have tried to send, due to power outages or some glitch with the auto-save feature ...
Anything you wish to throw out there would be nice to hear from somebody else. I have no kindred spirits out here!

    Regards.

I just bought all my rails and ball screws from econvenience1986, and they all look excellent. everything was packaged well and came with wood attached to the outside of the boxes to keep them from bending, plus free 3 day shipping from HK. I also bought 3 seperate fastobuy Z axis assemblies from vipwindows. They charge an arm and a leg for shipping, and dont package their products nearly well enough. two of the three assemblies I got from them were damaged during shipping, though luckily not damaged beyond repair.

I would choose https://www.ebay.com/usr/econvenienc...72.m2749.l2754 over vipwindows for future purchases personally, though they did promise to ship everything else to me in wooden boxes in the future..
