Hello,
I would like to build my own CNC but i am having trouble finding good instructions on how to do this.
This site https://www.buildyourcnc.com/ seems like a good start but they are outdated.
Also the sizes are all in inches and not in mm as i live in the netherlands.
Can someone point me in the good direction where to find good instructions?
Thank you!
Johan

Have you visited the LinuxCNC site yet? A lot of good stuff there.
Next have you read some of the build threads here? Again lots of good info and frankly don't forget the stickies. A fundamental reality see is that there are literally a billion ways to build a CNC router. What you need to do is to read enough materials so that you can define what you want in a machine. You can then decide what to buy and what to make.
I really don't think there is one stop solution for this. When building a machine you need to leverage a number of skills, those being electrical/electronic, mechanical, machinist, welding (possibly), setup, programming and what have you. Not many people can cover all those crafts in detail.
I always found that site to be a bit strange. This site https://www.buildyourcnc.com/ seems like a good start but they are outdated.
Not really a problem. 25.4 is the magic number. Beyond that you will often find that the real dimensions of a part is actually metric, often you find designs that mix parts form one standard into a design of another. Bearings are an example as the vast majority of balls bearings are metric dimensioned these days. Also the sizes are all in inches and not in mm as i live in the netherlands.
Unfortunately I don't have a definitive reference suggestion. The best I can suggest is to search for "DIY router builds" on google. The problem you will find is that a lot of sites that feature builds are frankly don't by guys that are doing their first machine and frankly don't offer a lot of good advice. Can someone point me in the good direction where to find good instructions?
Thank you!

I think that if converting between inches and millimeters is a problem then you should buy a ready made machine. If there would be a complete "how to build a CNC" manual then it would be a thick and expensive book not something you would get for free. Otherwise there are a lot of resources on the Web but you need to do the research and pick what you need from each of these. On my blog and in my videos you will find information about my own design and I will soon start a high quality 3D printer build log also. But those are my way of doing things, definitely not the only way and definitely still requires some skills from the readers also.
