SO, the pinions are fixed, and don't appear to have any adjustment, or means to keep them tight to the rack? Id expect that there's some slop in those drive systems?

In that second photo is there another bearing outboard of the large belt sprocket? The one bearing visible is certainly not sufficient. The belt should also be the full width, as large as possible. I also cannot see provisions for tensioning the belts unless the shaft and shaft support bearings are slid along the tslots, at least in first photo.

I don't rebar seeing any adjustment for the belt tension but I'll look again. The rack feels pretty tight to me.

I'll take some more photos today I have to go down to the shop and letter a semi truck this morning.

    Thanks for the help

If you push and pull on each end of the gantry, where the pinion is, is there any movement at all?

I checked out the router and think the rack & pinion feels very tight & I only feel a general sway that I'm contributing to the general design of the machine. I have attached photos of the way the rack & pinion are mounted as well as the way the drive shaft mounts up.

Let me know your thought on the photos. Please help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154333-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154248-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154437-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154304-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154200-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154212-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154207-jpgPlease help with machine chatter & movement-20170906_154248-jpg
