Great creation . Looks like a tank , and I'll bet it's as strong as one

I don't actually know anything about CNC router tables , but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night

    Looking nice!

By the way the photos are excellent for tool porn. We can plainly see that this is a well engineered machine well put together. I really like the use of steel tubing here, a clean design with gussets in all the right places.

first of all thanks million for the comment and compliment then I have to confess that wasn't a perfect job, I had many mistakes which you couldn't detect!
fortunately, my customer still satisfies and the machine still working pretty well ( except a few problem on encoder cable which I have fixed) since 2011

many thanks buddy. you are absolutely right! I used a kind of industrial steel profile which has 10 mm thickness and the size of profile that I used is: 100*100 mm in table strutcer and 200*100 mm in X axis.

thank you so much. I have built many types of machinery for different fields, such as cnc milling (industrial), cnc router, cnc wood turning, 4 axis cnc wood engraving with 8 heads, mounting machine, nc punch machine... and I really want to share all of them on cnc zone but I just dont know how! I mean shall I create sprate theard for each one or just post wood working machines in one theard, for example a theard like this: *my diy cnc wood working machines*
    Any suggestion will be helpful.

Everyone ends up with mistakes on anything more than a trivial build. I work on machinery built by all sorts of builders from the USA, Canada and Germany and they all have mistakes. The trick is to fix them or hide them and keep moving forward to a complete machine.

fortunately, my customer still satisfies and the machine still working pretty well ( except a few problem on encoder cable which I have fixed) since 2011
Nice to hear. Like I said it looks like a very well built machine that should work very well.

you are totally right and I agree with you.

by the way, is it ok if I ask you, which company do you work with in Germany?
(I live in West part of Germany)

Great build. How did you find direct driving the rack and pinion with the servos. What's the max rpm on those motors?

Honestly, direct driving the rack & pinion with servo motor was a stupid idea and I did it! however, I do not regret at least I learned a few servo functions. anyway, I had to resolve the problem so then I used timing pully about 1:3 ratio, ( 1:5 or even 1:6 could be beter ) I was pretty much satisfied in the end. ( in my eyes the best and right way to driving a rack & pinion system is gearbox)
    sorry for my bad English.

Funny thing is between now and then that company (originally IWKA's packaging division) became an American company and then a Canadian company. As for cartoners IWKA (I'm not sure what ATS calls the division now) does/did make some fine equipment.

One thing that high speed packaging machines makes you aware of is the importance of knowing which axis is which. This is one reason why I prefer to see people be consistent in axis referencing. Sure 3 axis are easy to deal with and usually context will zero you in on the axis being talked about but even doubling that quickly leads to confusion not to mention what happens when you add a dozen more axis.

The interesting thing is the company buying that cartoner, gave me my first and only trip to Germany!!! Unfortunately we spent most of the time over there working our butts off and didn't see much of the country. If I remember correctly the city was Karlsruhe or something like that.

the Karlsruhe is located near the France border. I have never been in that region but based on my experience you could always find many nice landscapes in each part of Germany. however, I'm looking for an opportunity to sacpe from here

kidding aside, I wish I could get there instead of wasting time here, but I just stuck in this country in the moment...

The sad reality is that every country has its problems. If you want to get involved in manufacturing in the USA for example you would have a difficult time. I'm hoping to see that change with the new leadership here but over the last 20 years manufacturing in the USA has been gutted. There are no good answers here, I just wish you luck on finding a better place.

You are absolutely right and I know that's not easy at all but I'm still hopeful... ☺
Anyway, thanks for your attention and wish you the best.

I also live in Germany. I love it here. Being from USA the only thing I miss is my Texas breakfast! We are in the Southwest corner 15 minutes from Switzerland and 25 minutes from France. Close to Lörrach. What town do you live in?

    Nice build!
What is the impression of the spindle after some use?
