Thanks, going to have to replace drive boards because I literally cannot find a replacement. Probotix said the company stopped making those 4 years agoDIY CNC - HELP NEEDED - X Axis Jumps

This is a good thing, because DM542 is far more feature-rich than the old Probotix drives. I still would consider at least one of the mechanical upgrades mentioned.

I don't see any problems with the breakout board you already have... you should be able to find a schematic of the pins and match them up to the new drives. You just need the step+, step-, dir+, dir-, ena+, and ena- from the Probotix board to the Leadshine drives. Then you just need to connect the stepper leads and power supply to the drives. Should be relatively easy.

Guys, buddy of mine found a probostep board he had used on a 6 wire step motor setup. Since I burned my other board out he gave it to me hoping it would work. Question of the day is how do I wire the 4 wire motor up to this board that has 6 pins + 2 for power and ground.

I should add I tried wiring already and no output to motor. I co firmed after blowout that motor is working attached it to another board and it works. So I know the problem is either wiring board or the board itself won't work with a 4 wire motor.

That's a unipolar drive, and it won't work with a bipolar (4 wire) motor.

Thanks, so i was thinking that and did a little research and believe I have found the schematic. Question is, those ribbon cable wires are a super small gauge do you think they will suffice for the screw terminals on driver board?

Yes, they're only delivering 5V at tiny current...

Guys, really appreciate the help here! You have saved me significant pain and suffering!

I have purchased the new driver boards and will post results of the install. Thanks again!

Alright, Z driver is in. Working but now after testing I am noticing a stupid issue I am sure..... when I home Z the machine coordinates are not showing 0, they are showing -0.86.....

Other problem I am noticing is that when I start a gcode program the z goes all the way up and hits limit. Any ideas here?

Go to Config > Homing/Limits, and make sure there's nothing in the Home Off column.

And your g-code is probably sending it up into the limit switch.

Thanks, nothing there. Seems that I have somehow overcome that issue with modifying gcode and removing home command on initial lines..

What I can't seem to get over is, jogging z axis works fine, but when program goes to cut it ignores all depth cuts and just carries out rest of program on Z -0. Almost like it ignores z commands with no error or anything

Well, trial and error and research would say that info not need it enabled. I have went through everything I could possibly think of....steps per unit, code, m3 settings.....it will not accept any code commands yo go down a negative z length. Pretty sure it does not accept any z whether it's positive or negative movement which is beyond mind boggling. I can jog either direction no problem!?!?!
