    Default MX4660 New Build.

I have a router table I am trying to complete, and I am new to this field.

I have the 4'x8' Gryphon CNC with the MX4660, 2.2kw water cooled spindle, SainSmart 4 channel relay module, UC400ETH smoothstepper and Bayite BYT7A006 12v pump. I have much of it set up, but I am starting to have questions on finishing the connections from the MX4660 to the relay then on to the pump, spindle and such.

I am finding fragments of info, but not straight forward info. Can anyone point me to some diagrams, tutorials or info to make these connections and routing more clear to me? Most specific are the ways to wire so I can power on the 12v water pump for spindle from G-code and the spindle. And to be honest, anything else you can advise me on!

Forgive me if I missed a post explaining this or a sticky post. I search and have not found one to bring this home. Some posts have come close, but leave out details like needing power supplies for certain breakout boards, or the from and to's of the wiring.

Please pay no attention to the mess of wires, I will be bundling up as I finish.

You will get much better responses if you post specific questions. I'll not really sure what you are asking.

E.g. How exactly do I wire a 12v water pump to an MX4660, so that I can turn it off and on with gcode?

Also the impression your "gotta love community post" gives, which I hope is unintentional, is that you are annoyed that no one has replied yet. 17 hours and not one reply from the highly rewarded volunteers to vague unclear questions...

116 people have viewed, not one response. You responded, but only to inform me of my lack of info, yet you hit the nail on the head in your response... "E.g. How exactly do I wire a 12v water pump to an MX4660, so that I can turn it off and on with gcode?".......???

Is it that easy to forget where it is you came from? The frustrating feeling of trying to learn, yet not finding a means to move forward?

I have been a member of other forums, and perhaps I am expecting too much. The "lending a hand" so to speak was more forthright and genuine. But that forum was made up of many newbies and beginners. And I was seeking to go beyond that level.

    oh well......

You have an Output activate a relay, with the relay controlling the pump.

I would suggest not going ape after only 2 days of no replies!

That being said, MX4660 has 6 digit outputs. Outputs 1-4 the for general use. They only drive 70ma max. You need to wire the coil of a relay to one of those outputs. Relay switches 12V power to your water pump.

Attached is a schematic of my system with a MX4660 driving a relay that controls a 120VAC air valve. The relay coil is 24VDC.

    Relay Coil + from 24Vdc
    Relay Coil - from MX4660 Out1+
    MX4660 Out1- to GND

I know you are trying to help me, but are you saying the relay I have will do what you have in that diagram?

I am sorry, I guess I am either too dumb or you are assuming I know more.

The 5v on the VCC top left, where is that coming from? A 5v power supply I am providing?

That yellow block it's going into, is that the relay I have mentioned I am getting?

Again, forgive me if I am frustrating you. Obviously the experience and knowledge difference is a bit large.

you said you were using https://www.sainsmart.com/4-channel-...ttl-logic.html

I downloaded the docs in your link. The doc is a schematic of the relay module you specified.
    http://www.sainsmart.com/zen/documen...y%20Module.rar

Your relay module uses 5V supply/logic (from your link). I hope your supplying it!

The yellow block is the pin header on your relay module.

Okay, I think I see now.

The blue wire marked VCC is the same as the Yellow block top left marked 5v VCC.

And the IN3 marked blue wire is the same as the Yellow block pin marked IN3, right?

If so, I understand the IN3 routing to the MX4660, but I don't know where the 5v VCC is going? A power supply I would have to provide?

Again, sorry to be a pain, but I desire to learn.

Rather than adding a 5V power supply, it might be cleaner to find a relay with a 12V coil and use the power you already have!

I don't know all these things you already know. So I have no clue, that's why I ask.

I am hoping to grow in this knowledge.

When you say, " it might be cleaner to find a relay with a 12V coil and use the power you already have!"......Are you saying buy a different one than the one I mentioned?

    So maybe this one?

    https://www.sainsmart.com/omron-4-ch...3-avr-arm.html

So this brings up another question. My UC400ETH Ethernet CNC Motion Controller requires a 5v power supply (yet in it's manual it says 12 to 24VDC). Could I get a better power supply and up it to 12v to power both? Or just better to use to different ones?

Thank you Gerry! was just trying to find something like that!

    or

just put it a relay, rather than a module.

Can I run the UC400ETH on 12v also.

    http://cncdrive.com/MC/UC400ETH%20da...ETH_manual.pdf page 16.

Is that what you would understand from this document?

Could I wire in a 12v power supply to a power distribution block and run both the UC400ETH and the Relay also? Good practice or method, or not?
