Default Porter Cable 7518 Router Motor Upgrade Awsome!! Spindle Lock

So I ran across a post on instrgram a few months ago. He posts mostly motorcycles and some cnc router pics (pretty much my thing). I struck a conversation with him and turns out he's an accomplished machinist, new to cnc routers. He had a few questions. I took a lesson from the cnczone playbook. Help the guy just like everyone has helped me here. In the end it turns out he's super into this stuff and has been working on some nice upgrades for his router. He sent me this to try out. Better than sliced bread- (my cnc is semi diy- bought as decommissioned scrap metal I pieced it back together with the explicit help from this forum)

    Brilliant.

The mess monsters will be upset that its no fun to hide the router wrenches any more.

I'd rather use two wrenches than a spindle lock.

Agreed- or at least I thought so at first.
I'm used to aligning two wrenches at a specific angle with one hand, squeeze and it's tight.
But after using this for a while I've become quite comfortable with it. In fact I have a specific method for tightening it and loosening.
It's super quick and as a personal preference I like it better than the old school "two wrench squeeze". I'm using think & tinker's collet set now (which is awesome!!!) so the two wrench squeeze became unreliable. The space between the wrench handle is much more with the collet upgrade. Now one nut is on the bottom, one on top, instead of them being closely stacked. So for me and this specific set up I'm loving my new lock. Gonna get a nicer er20 wrench though..Nothing wrong with T &T's, I have just seen nicer ones with a plastic cover on the handle.

    Thanks Vince.

I also developed one for the Bosch Router 1617 1618 13020

I sell them on ebay for beer money.
