Building stainless steel router

Got the linear actuators working today.

Here is the head I need to mount. I started to look at dust collector and made list of what I want it to do.
1. Don't want the bit covered so I can see what going on and changing bits.
2. Want to set height automatically
3. Would like to blow chips away from cutter while cutting
I'm sure somebody has already done this but need to make it work on my head.

Started screwing down deck. I ran short of 80/20 and had to order more material it came in today. Now I can start leveling the deck so I can get side rails mounted

After reading about problems not connecting two steppers together and racking Z I've decided to tie the two steppers together. I picked up some black pipe and will weld plugs in ends. I will try and get some picture posted.

Got pulleys bored need to key shaft and pulleys. Laying out motor and bearing plates.

I have used a small hole saw for the same thing, but it did not turn out as nice. Nice job and tools.
The same thing can be used if you ever use carriage bolts instead of Tnuts and forget to install all the bolts before final assembly.

Thanks for the kind words! The pilot keeps the cutter from wandering around. I didn't want to buy a special cutter for this one job so that is why I made. It actually worked better than I had hoped. I don't know how this router will turn out but it's been fun building it so far.

I was actually wondering how you bolted the extrusions for the t-slot table top. I think you are showing pictures of how you assembled the frame extrusions. I am interested in how you secured the table top extrusions. It looks like you have used some flat head bolts that are flush with the surface of the table top extrusions. Please elaborate on that for me. Thanks.

I used 1/4-20x2" countersink Allen screws with 1/8" X 1/2" roll pins.

What did you use to drill/countersink the holes for these screws?

I used 1/4" bit to go thru 3/4" top extrusion and a #7 for threaded bottom for a 1/4-20 tap. And countersink.

For machining vertical stock? Very cool. I have an area at the front of my router that I will be doing a similar thing, but much smaller scale. I like the vise approach.

I'm going to make an insert out of 80/20 to go in the vise to match the top when I'm not using the vise. I'm really impressed with how much pressure that the vise can applies and it doesn't rack. My bolts for the insert finally showed up so I should be able to finish it.
