They are two halves. I cut the inside bulb and cable slots, and the inside of the thighs first, and then the outside of the bodies. I make two complete bird bodies from a 500x300x40mm cutting board. The legs are made from the same material, but I find thinner cutting boards for them. The toes have carbon fiber inserts on the underside for increased strength. I cut slots for the carbon fiber first and then glue the strips in place before 3D milling the feet.

They must be wondering why they are selling so many cutting boards in the store in our tiny town.

Thanks, that is the way that made the most sense to me. I'm not going to try to duplicate your birds, but I do like to figure out the cutting strategies for use in other future projects.

Why let them wonder? Show them the end results.

By the way most impressed with your workmanship.

New idea. Thinking of getting a 0.8kW spindle and making a mount for it so that I can use it as a horizontal milling adapter. I have some fatbike rims that I would like to lighten, and occasoinally see the need for doing work in the end of long objects. I would get 110 mm of vertical movement with the spindle hanging under the gantry.

Picture of my fatbike, from today's ride.

Oh yeah, I also plan to make a wood bicycle frame some time soon. It'll probably take months to design, though.

Those are awesome. I'll be doing either a fatbike frame or a road frame, I think.

I just cut some feet. Here's what the bottom looks like. I glued the carbon fiber strips before 3D milling.
