Another successful day using the vacuum table.
Had a small project for my daughters high school musical. The needed some wooden crosses for props.
Re-sawed a piece of Cherry and planed it down to 1/4". Then using a piece of plastic to mask off the areas of the table not being used I cut out all the parts for the crosses.
The vacuum was sufficient to pull all the bow out of the material.
I am going to add a ball valve to shut off the the back zone when not required. This will make it easier in the future.
Pieces all cut, I did leave about .005 on the bottom to keep them from flying out.
The crosses were made in 2 pieces and with an interlocking lap joint they are joined together. Just a spot of glue to keep them together.
Then a quick jig held in place with the vacuum to add a chamfer around each cross front and back.
The jig held the parts snug enough for this operation. No clamps etc...
Same Jig was later used to hold the parts for the ROS to smooth.
All finished with a coat of danish oil.
I have been looking at upgrading to a fein for my vacuum table and when not used for that I will have a quiet shop vac.
So far been just using a normal shop vac. Very noisy and if I read all the specs correctly about 1/2 the vacuum power as a Fein.
