Hey , thanks ... I have this hobby since 2008 ... built about 30 machines since then . The shop is my sanctuary ...I am an air trafic controller ,
and this place is where I relieve stress ... I built all the machines myself ( exept the lathe ... but I'm thinking to build a cnc lathe soon )

The table top is a solid piece of aluminum extrusion ( 450mm x 860mm ) , with 12mm T-slots . The rigidity and strenght of the machines is greatly
improved by using this piece . I had to modify the frame a little , so as the table top will not " eat " from the clearance under the gantry ( is burried into the structure ... ) .

My name is Jonathan and I must say i am extremely impressed with your CNC mill design. I am building one myself, slowly and modeling it after your design if you do not mind. I am using the HSR25CA linear rail, which is slightly different than your design I believe. I do have a question for you since I am new at these projects. The work base of this machine, how do you fasten it to the rail and beams and what is it? It appears to be some 80/20 or equivalent, however, i have not seen it that wide. Or, is it multiple pieces bolted together?

I am also using a 2.2KW Air cooled spindle with ER25 collet system. Is this similar to what you have designed?

I am a Mechanical Engineer and Gunsmith by trade. I saw that you were an Air Traffic Controller. That must be a stressful position. Especially in the times we are in today.

I greatly appreciate any input you may have and I thank you for your time.

I am in the US, and I wanted to say I like your machine design. I do custom furniture pieces and want to build a machine 3'X6'
To do mainly carving type operations. I want to build something similar to your using a steel frame with aluminum gantry. Double ballscrew in Y single in X and Z.

Can you tell me what suppliers you Used?
Did you do your own machining?

Can you suggest any reading or articles?
